FESTIVISTA 2024: A Celebration of Creativity, Community and Culture
FESTIVISTA at St. Edward’s School is not just an event; it's a vibrant celebration of literature, creativity, and the spirit of community, that unites individuals from all walks of life. FESTIVISTA 2024 was a true spectacle, blending cultural richness with imaginative flair and intellectual vigour. Anchored by the powerful theme of Daan Utsav—the Joy of Giving—Festivista emphasised the profound fulfilment that comes from sharing and uplifting others. All proceeds from the School Outreach Club's efforts were directed to supporting the underprivileged, reinforcing our commitment to making a meaningful impact.
This year’s festival was intricately woven into The Literature Fest, revolving around the captivating world of folktales. These timeless stories provide a lens to explore deep cultural wisdom and heritage, offering a bridge between the past and the present. The journey through this festival was nothing short of extraordinary.
St. Edward’s Model United Nations (EDMUN): Forging the Future The festivities kicked off with the St. Edward’s Model United Nations (EDMUN) held on 14-15 September 2024. Honoured by the presence of our distinguished alumnus, Justice Sureshwar Thakur, the event brought together over 150 delegates from various schools. It was a platform for meaningful debate, thoughtful discussion and innovative problem-solving. The participants not only represented diverse portfolios but embodied the Youth of Today striving to shape an India of Tomorrow. Their collective intellectual voyage emphasised embracing diversity while seeking unity in purpose.
Literary Endeavours- Unleashing Creativity: EDMUN set the tone for a wide array of literary activities that spanned the entire event. From captivating special assemblies to thought-provoking quizzes, slogan writing competitions, painting, calligraphy, and an enriching book fair, every facet of creativity was celebrated.
A Dialogue Across Time- Speaker Sessions and the Wisdom of Folktales: On 28 September, a series of dynamic speaker sessions delved into the festival's theme—folktales. These sessions bridged the ancient with the modern, offering insights into how these narratives continue to shape our understanding of the world. Raaja Bhasin, who inaugurated the fest, was the first among a remarkable lineup of speakers, including Mr. Tikender Singh Panwar, Mrs. Payal Jindal, Mr. Kiran Kurwade, and Adv. Deven Khanna. Their discussions, infused with personal insights and expert perspectives, resonated with both the students and the broader audience. Intense breakout room interactions allowed our MUN Club Members to engage deeply with the speakers, fostering a collaborative exchange of ideas and knowledge. The sessions concluded with video presentations by our talented students, further enriching the experience.
A Multisensory Extravaganza: The event didn't just cater to the intellect but delighted the senses. The State of the Art Painting and Craft display showcased exceptional talent, while the culinary workshops offered participants an opportunity to explore diverse flavours. Outreach Club-organised games, pots, and food stands added a festive atmosphere. Additionally, a book fair, career and college fest, and immersive AR/VR sessions in collaboration with Shoolini University, allowed visitors to engage with futuristic technology and educational opportunities.
Cultural Showcase: Celebrating India's Heritage: Two remarkable cultural programmes during Festivista brought to life the rich and diverse heritage of India through mesmerising performances. Stories and traditions, steeped in history, were beautifully depicted through music, dance, tableaux, and drama.
Fit India Culture and Award Ceremony: On 29 September 2024, Festivista embraced the Fit India Culture, highlighting the importance of physical fitness through a spectacular showcase of drills, yoga, and karate demonstrations. This celebration of health and discipline was followed by the much-anticipated Award Ceremony, where Academic and Sports Achievers were honoured for their outstanding accomplishments. Presiding over the ceremony was esteemed IFS Officer, Mr. Shravan Manta, who inspired the students with his presence and words of encouragement.
Looking Toward the Future: In every sense, Festivista 2024 was a resounding success. It captured the essence of cultural celebration, intellectual exploration, and the joy of giving. The festival's blend of literature, creativity, fitness, and community spirit left a lasting impact on all participants and attendees. As we reflect on this remarkable journey, we are more determined than ever to carry the legacy forward, creating even more enriching experiences in the years to come.
