Vibrant Colours of India Portrayed through Dance Performances by Class I & II Edwardians

Description: Annual Day is the most anticipated event in a school’s academic year. The annual function for Classes I and II, St Edwards School, was held here today based on the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest accompanied by School Principal Reverend Father Anil Sequeira. The chief guest for the first show was Dr Hiten Banyal, State Surveillance Officer, currently posted at the National Health Mission. Dr Banyal is on special duty for National Ambulance Services 108 for HP, while the chief guest for the second show was Arti Gupta, a facilitator to many education, awareness, livelihood and sustainability projects for WWF in Himachal, specialisation in Sustainable Development, and she has represented the country as the youngest environment youth leader for the UNDP millennium summit in Seoul. Students of Classes I and II were all draped in beautiful cultural outfits to reflect the core of colourful India. The unity and diversity of India was portrayed by a well-crafted and directed interplay of colourful dances from Indian States thus enthralling the audience. Himachal’s famous Natti along with Kashmiri folk, Punjabi, Gujarati, Assamese, Maharashtrian and Kerala dances showcased the culture of India.
